Almería breaks export records beneath the largest sea of greenhouses in Europe. The so-called “Huerta de Europa” feeds millions of consumers every day and presents itself as a benchmark for organic certifications and good practices.
Yet behind this success, thousands of migrant workers live without water or electricity, report labour abuses and, in some cases, extreme violence. Through first-hand testimonies, clandestine recordings and an investigation developed with the support of the European DignityFIRM project, The Others delves into the lives that sustain this model and questions the contradictions of a system that promises sustainability while those who sustain it endure exploitation and extreme precarity.
